The Rio Bavispe is formed near Tres Rios where the Rios Gavilan, El Arco, and La Cueva meet the Rio Negro. The Rio Negro is the largest headwater stream with additional flow from the Rio Chihuachupa that joins the Negro several miles upstream of Tres Rios.The Bavispe flows nearly 200 miles to join the Rio Aros, forming the Rio Yaqui.
