Whitewater Forum : chehalis basin strategy (strategy = dam the river) |

I used to paddle the Chehailis a lot 15 or 20 years ago. It's close to Oly and I had some great adventures in there when I first started boating. Saw my first rain on snow flood event up close and personal on the upper chehalis. I also saw my first red neck couch burning party back in those roads. It's no wounder it's locked up, since the locals love to burn couches and blast them with shotguns till the ground is 2 inches deep with shotgun shells. I was upset to lose the run to the gates, but the dam would be even worse! Speaking of gates..... At least you can buy a Key,but it doesn't seem worth it for that drainage. I did however buy the key to the Saint Helen's farm this year, wich opens up the southern green, kalama, coweimen and 318,000 acers of posibility. If anyone wants to boat down there this season leme know. Awesome! Yeah I'm down. Love the upper Kalama and always wanted to get on the S. Green. Does that get you onto the upper parts of the sf tootle too? I've only run it from the gate down. |

Whitewater Forum : Plea...Your Comments Needed re ACCESS, Cispus Rive |
Author: ReneeCP Subject: Plea...Your Comments Needed re ACCESS, Cispus Rive Posted: 08 Oct 2016 at 11:56am I am writing today to ask for your help. It has been 30 years since LCPUD was ordered to provide lower Cispus access, uninterrupted access. The boating community has turned up the heat, including one paddler who paid for legal representation to speak to this issue. But we need more voices. **What we need today is your comments filed with FERC.** LCPUD was ordered in March to address the access issues, was granted an extension and finally filed their incomplete and inadequate response 16 Sept. We really need folks to file comments about the lack of access problem. This link (below) takes you to WKC forum where you can read The why and HOW to file comments. There is sample language, and comments filed by others (including NPS) to read for examples. The goal is to keep comments high level....we don't have access, that's the message. Please, please take time to write FERC. Reading comments filed by others (on WKC website) will probably satisfy most of your Qs. Thank you in advance for filing comments. Click here to learn more and how to file with FERC |
