Yeah I thought both years were great!   I'm partial to Cascade because of the location and support of local community and business. I bet people wouldn't mind a 5 spot to get in :)
Saturday evening would be a great time....paddle during the day, watch kayaking videos and drink beer with fellow friends and paddlers in the eve, sounds like the perfect day to me!
I also like the idea of the length restriction on the videos. There were many more entries the second year and I'm sure there will be more this year!
Thanks for doing this again Dan! I'll be sure to be there, even if it ends up at your house ;)

I'm betting Dan would vote for Brad's house.

Cascade Canoe and Kayak in Redmond seemed like a great venue last year. Lots of room to mingle and a good viewing area. Plus, we're helping support a local business (and also trashing the facilities of a local business!).

A couple bucks admission that goes into the pockets of AW doesn't sound like a bad idea either.

I was a big fan of the Redmond location.  7PM Friday sounds great, though I do have Fridays off from work so others might prefer Saturday.  I would think that most people would be willing to throw in a few bucks to make sure we have some good food and beer.

I've heard there are videos that demonstrate relevant parts of this process, both professional and amateur. Maybe open the floor for submissions for these as well, to help Dan's education a little bit?

1.) Saturday Afternoon/Evening after paddling the Skykomish, Stillaguamish... Whatever is in at the time depending on who's hosting.
2.) O.A.C. to meet in Monroe/Snoho to carpool up. Whoever is more than welcome to crash at my place Friday P.M.and Saturday after. Sound to Sunmit brew in Snoho would be rad as well... Anywhere... I'll be there.
3.) Keep thee events going and lets get stout! Money is a must to donate.
First introduced to this event last year and felt very welcomed! If you paddle or not... Good times and thanks for setting the shin-digg of a b-last up yo!!!

I like where your head is at Christian. Yeah, the length really became an issue last year 😏

I was just gonna have JP do some standup for about 45 minutes and then show a carnage video. Call it a night.

It's an awesome event, the way it is. I preferred the Redmond shop's environment. (But, of course, my children did get me kicked out of the bar).
7 p.m. start is good.
I'd prefer Saturday, I think. But Friday is also good.
FORMAT SUGGESTIONS: Borrow format concepts from variety shows, late night shows and church. That is limit the main event--the videos--to an hour, at most. You can do this by either establishing three- or five-minute time-limits per video or by fitting your selection of videos into an hour. An hour of video is quite long in a social setting, such as the one you have established.
Preserve the rest of the time for announcements and, perhaps, some form of live entertainment, such as a brief slideshow or a good-old-fashioned story or, if we have a musician in the tribe, a little music. Live performances can be so great.
You've got some great momentum with this project.

As the clouds and rain return; its time to start thinking about the important things in life:

"How can I get someone else to drive shuttle in the rain?"
"Why are all my wrist gaskets cracked on my drysuit?"
"Why do I even bother doing this ridiculous sport every weekend?"
"Where do babies come from?"

More importantly though; when and where is the 2015 SeaGnar gonna happen?

I want input from you people. So please let me know your honest opinion, otherwise the 2015 showing of the SeaGnar will be in my living room, and we will need more lawn chairs.

1.) Dates. We had it on the 21st of November last year. I think we did it in early December in 2013. When works for you? Would it be better on a Friday night like in years past or would a Saturday showing work better?

2.) Venue. Some people liked having the show at a bar... Some people preferred the more intimate boat shop setting... Sound off. Where should we show how good we are at swimming?

3.) Fund raising. I'll be the first to admit that I can get out of hand when it comes to "events". Should we keep this low key? We had close to 200 people last year (if my memory serves), and we didn't charge anything for the beer or food. I make no promises about the food but I am confidant that the beer will flow freely, again. Should we charge a fee to get in? Give the money to AW? Should we just keep it low key and use the auction to raise funds? Either way, AW is getting money, we just need to decide how were going to take it from the masses and give it to them.

4.) Everything else. What would you improve, like to keep seeing, etc.

Let me know, people, or it's the living room...

I know there are a lot of new faces in the area now. The SeaGnar is probably the sickest amateur video contest in the world. Here are links from last year's show.
