LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. -- The Larimer County dive team has rescued four rafters from the Cache La Poudre River, but one of them has died.
The four rafters got separated from their boat just after 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, according to John Schultz, spokesman for the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.
Two people were able to get to an island in the river near Mishawaka, Schultz said. The Larimer County Search and Rescue Team was called in to assist the Dive and Rescue Team in rescuing the two.
A third person was pulled from the water with a suspected broken leg and is being taken to a hospital, Schultz explained.
Rescuers performed CPR on the fourth rafter, but that person died at the scene, Schultz said.
The rafters were wearing wetsuits and were part of a commercial rafting trip operated by Rocky Mountain Adventures of Fort Collins.
Other rafts were still navigating the river, hours after the rescue.
