Riverbrain Competitions

From 2011 to 2017 Riverbrain awarded four yearly prizes off the community river log. The archive of winners lives on below — and the logbook still counts your runs, hours and contributions.

The four awards

Jack of all rivers, master of none
Awarded to the person who floats the most unique runs for the year. If you find yourself hitting the same run over and over, this won't be the competition for you.
Water Logged
Awarded to the person who logs the most time on the river — actual time running it, surfing it, paddling in it, not shuttle time or waiting at the put-in.
Humanitarian
Awarded to those that help out others. Did you help a newbie down the river? Help with a swim or rescue? Offer advice about running a rapid? This award recognizes giving back to the community.
Contributor
Awarded to the user who enters the most river information into Riverbrain — descriptions, rapid info, access info, notes, flow info. Any tidbits you add help out the rest of the river community.

Why we did this

  • By setting goals people tend to accomplish more than they thought possible.
  • River-log usage statistics help lobby to keep rivers open and river access available — empirical data shows officials what the river community wants and needs.
  • Competitions are fun, and provide boaters bragging rights to their friends.
