Description

This section of the Rogue is a good beginner or intermediate section.  Floaters can choose several different access points to make day runs.  Even though this stretch is mellow, users should always keep an eye out for wood hazards (especially in spring time or after heavy rains with flood potential).

Rapids

# Rapid Class Recommended flow Description Scout
1 Highway Hole Rapid II to II+ 700–3,500

A class II wave train near where the Rogue parallels HW 62.

Read and run

2 Island Rapids II- to II 700–3,500

Some splashy water and waves form at the base of a good sized island.  Most boaters take the right hand channel of the island.  The turbulent water continues for a while past the island but nothing serious here.

3 Cable Hole Rapid I to II- 700–3,500

Mainly some swift moving water.

Read and run

4 Trail Creek Rapid II- to II 700–3,500

Another easy class I to II rapid.

Read and run

5 Jackson Falls II to II+ 700–3,500

The river makes a sweeping left hand turn and this rapid starts just above the turn and follows it.  This is the biggest section of whitewater on this stretch of the Rogue but is nothing to fret about.

6 Rattlesnake Rapid II- to II 700–3,500

Another fun splashy rapid.
