Description
The Grand Canyon of the Stikine is considered one of the hardest descents in North America. Many epic trips have ended badly here with handful's of successful runs typically by pro-kayakers. Doing a trip down the Stikine is similar to topping out on Everest or K2. It's not for everyone and puts the few that do run this in a different league.
The first descent was done by Rob Lesser in 1981 and 1985. Starting in the 2000's, this canyon started to see more traffic as kayak design progressed and athletes started pushing the boundries more. It's popularity will most likely continue to rise as time goes on.
See the access section for info on logistics on putin and takeout. Most boaters spend 2 or 3 nights running this.
