Description

The lower Urique begins at the village of Urique and ends at the confluence of Río Urique and Río Verde.  Below the confluence the Río Fuerte begins.  From the town or Urique the river flows through Barranca del Urique and the nature of the river is class III+ to IV based off of water levels.  By the end of the run the river has a large big water feel to it although the gradient is not nearly as steap once the river leaves the canyon.

Setting up the shuttle on this run will require some knowledge of the roads as well as a good chunk of time.  See the access area for putin and takeout info.

This section of the Urique is more populated as there are several primitive roads throughout this stretch that could be used if you run into issues.  There are also a lot of gold and silver mines in this area.

Take-Out Confluence with Río Fuerte 1,028 Feet No No No All Vehicles

Getting to the bridge that crosses Rio Urirque just above the confluence will take some effort.  From the town of Choix in Sinaloa take the right road at junction just north of town (a couple of Kms).  Then follow the dirt road as it winds around and eventually makes it to the confluence.  From Choix you are looking at 100Km or so to the take out.  To find the take out you would be best to get the GPS points and plot the route carefully using google earth.

You can continue paddling down the Rio Fuerte to cut out some of the driving time and take out above the reservoir but the river is more flat here.
