Description
This run isn't as hard as the lower Greys snaggletooth area but can still be challenging for the intermediate boater (especially at high water). At flows over 2000 CFS expect a class IV to V rapid where the landslide has occurred. Daisy's Hole becomes a river wide hole at high water. At normal or lower flows this run is an easier III or III+.
Watch for logjams and wood hazards throughout. Since the river is followed by Greys River Road you can scout the entire stretch. The top and bottom of this run are easier class II water. The landslide area is the crux of the run. Scout the landslide from the left bank.
Rapids
| # | Rapid | Class | Recommended flow | Description | Scout |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Above Lake Creek Rapid | III- to III | 800–2,500 | Some boulders and whitewater. The first action you'll see since the put-in. |
|
| 2 | Landslide Rapid | III to IV | 800–2,500 | This is the crux of the upper greys. Boulders and drops. |
Scout from the left bank or what you can manage to see from the road. |
| 3 | Daisy's Hole Rapid | III- to V | 800–2,500 | Just after the initial landslide rapid, you'll reach another set of rapids with a large (sometimes river wide) hole. This is just above an island that splits the river. |
Scout for wood from the road and scout what river channel you wish to take around the island. |
