| Whitewater Forum : File your eComment with FERC today! |
Author: jP Subject: File your eComment with FERC today! Posted: 04 Mar 2016 at 2:22pm Thanks Jon- and thanks for responding on this forum. I gotta say the rest of the PPeeps are making me look like a "Lone Nut Assassin" by not at least providing feedback on this forum. I don't want to jump to any conclusions or be a dick, but I have to also be honest and say that the people who use this forum are, for the most part, making me feel as though my efforts are in vain.It wouldn't hurt to prove me wrong by createing some buzz around this topic- a topic *THAT ACTUALLY MATTERS* Or, is Professor Paddle officially DEAD? This summer, 2016 would be the tenth anniversary of the Professor Paddle Ball. Just going to point that out now as spring approaches. It seems to me that Perhaps PP is now the equivalent of the Main Street Department store that goes out of business when Walmart moves into town. Facebook being the Walmart of Social Media. I'm not on Facebook. I HATE IT. I despise their ambiguous "simon says" approach to privacy and I view it as the "One Ring To Rule Them All" of Social Media. I much prefer the grass roots nature of PP and the fact that a Boater put it together. But, I digress. The fact is, while I'm off topic here, I've considered joining FB just because of this cause. It's that important to me. So at the very least, can someone LIKE this thread on FB? That could be helpful. Maybe send me a PM and let me know what impact that may have. There are real, substantive discussions that could be taking place. Multiple Minds are better than one, two or five. There are strategies to discuss, and a "Many Hands Make for Light Work" phoenomenon. "I'm busy" doesn't cut it. Because "I'm Busy Too". The point is, most paddlers care about protecting Free Flowing Rivers, or at least they used to. I hope they still do. So if ever there was a cause to rally behind, this is it. Don't expect one or five or ten people to take care of this. It doesn't work that way. Its going to take community involvement. |

| Whitewater Forum : Minimum Green Gorge Levels |
Author: jP Subject: Minimum Green Gorge Levels Posted: 04 Mar 2016 at 2:31pm 'Cause they ain't all polished, smooth, and settled into the riverbed like they are back east. You need some kind of Geology Lesson, Son? Well I ain't got time to give ya one because the geology above Sunset Falls is threatened by a short sighted Hydro Proposal and the mindless Government agency that will rubber stamp it like a 1950's B-movie Robot. This is the 21st century and modern whitewater boats are bred to be paddled on WATER. Boating boney riverbeds in Wa is akin to trying to make sweet love to a skeleton. Its a lot more sensual with some flesh inbetween. water is the river's flesh. Rocks are the bones. Hence the term boney. Where did the term Manky come from anyway? Probably them Brits. Sorry, You caught me all FIRED UP! |

So be prepared to take action again in about 6 months or so when they file their Final License Application. Its' important to hit this hard NOW though. We gotta push this next 60 days to make it count. Please get involved. Edited by jP - Today at 3:05pm |

| Whitewater Forum : I got Postcards- help me get rid of them |
Author: jP Subject: I got Postcards- help me get rid of them Posted: 04 Mar 2016 at 3:02pm Ok, so by now some of you know I got Postcards that need to get mailed to FERC. If you saw me recently and took 5 or ten and made sure they got mailed out, I thank you. And if you listen carefully, maybe-just maybe- the river thanks you too because... "The River Can't Speak For Itself" SnoPUD's Draft License Application is moving through FERC right now. We have less than 60 days left to comment. Due to the way postcards get prioritized by the post office, we need to get them in as early as possible. As Many as possible. This is only one volley of a series of responses to the DLA, and to the Licensing process in general. For it to be effective at all, it needs to be of a Large Volume. So if you want to be involved in stopping this juggernaught, please get with me soon and get some cards. Many of the ones I have are pre-stamped. What I have in mind is a very simple and effective strategy where each paddler fills out his or her own, and hands out 5 to other people. Yeah that's right- its a Pyrimid Scheme. But what's really more effective is if YOU- Yeah YOU. reading this RIGHT NOW- agree to take 20 and distribute them. "But jP!" some of you might think "20 is a lot- I can't distribute that many". But you don't have to. You just get four people to distribute 5 each and boom- you're done. Then get 20 more and see how far we can reach our own individual networks. That's the basic idea. Contact me via PM if you want to help. There is no way I can possibly hand out enough myself- I've moved over 200 now (thanks largely to about 10 paddlers who have helped hand out 5-10 each). |

| Whitewater Forum : Sky this weekend- Handing out cards for FERC |
Author: jP Subject: Sky this weekend- Handing out cards for FERC Posted: 04 Mar 2016 at 3:31pm Yo, sorry for the redundant posting (and postcarding). I will be on the Sky this weekend handing out postcards to mail to FERC. Probably split rock 11-noon. But since I'll be coming from Index, I won't have cell service. So make your own shuttle plan. You will see the Tan Van, probably at Split. If you are heading up there to boat and you haven't already (or even if you have) pick up some postcards to distribute. They need to be mailed to FERC by mid month to be safe. I'm sure you'll see me at some point if you are up there boating. Last saturday I think I did 3 laps. |
