Park County Sheriff Allan Lutes said his office was notified just before 2 p.m. Thursday that a man had been knocked out of a raft on the Yellowstone River about one mile north of Gardiner.
The victim was brought to shore at La Duke Springs near Highway 89. CPR was performed but he was pronounced dead at Livingston Memorial Hospital.
Sheriff Lutes advises the public to heed safety while participating in water activities in Park County especially during times of high and rapid water.
The National Weather Service says the Yellowstone River is near flood stage due to recent rain and snowmelt.
