Cache La Poudre River - Poudre Canyon Info

Colorado-US

Description

For the real scoop on the flows, check out http://www.poudrerockreport.com which is updated regularly during kayak season (April - July-ish).  The reports are given in 'feet on the rock' which is a local marker above Pineview Falls rapid.   Look for the 'feet to cfs' converter at the top of the page if you are not familiar with the guage numbers.  Flows & river class presented below are generalized for the entire river- some sections are more difficult, some are easier.

Note that:

1) The USGS guage in Ft. Collins (shown in other Poudre runs) is not acurate for the canyon runs

2) The Colorado Department of Water resources guage (Poudre at Canyon mouth) is better, but still not very good.

3) The AW flows page shows 'feet' on the CDWR guage, which does not at all correspond to 'feet' on the rock as provided by the rock report, and is therefore very misleading.
