Description
This is a less run portion of the Snake in Alpine Canyon. There is a nice class III rapid here called the narrows but you have to float a small section of Palisade Reservoir to get to the take-out.
If you decide to run this you should consider running the main Alpine section first to make it worth your while.
Rapids
| # | Rapid | Class | Recommended flow | Description | Scout |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The Narrows | III- to III+ | 4,000–15,000 | A final narrowing of the river before it drains into Palisade. If the reservoir is high this rapid gets covered up. |
Scout from the road as you drive up canyon. Check for good flows and reservoir height if you want to hit this when its available. |
