Join Lodore Permit in May for Magazine Article? | Hello, I am a contributor to Canoe and Kayak Magazine conducting a story about retracing the Powell expedition route on the Green and Colorado Rivers. As such, I'm attempting to paddle all the sections via raft and/or kayak in sequence, though probably broken up over three trips. I already have my Grand Canyon permit for late December 2015 and I'm trying to put together all the previous sections prior to that date. Ideally, I would like to break the trip into three units: one month in ... | Utah Rivers | Utah and vicinity
Ride to Sand Wash Green River | I'm permitted to packraft Desolation canyon solo in UT on the 22nd. and am looking for a ride in. I was planning to park in Green River and hitch up north and get a ride in from a shuttle service, but none of the shuttle companies are willing to transport a person in. So if anyone has connections that way I'm willing to pay a fee for this, but not the $200 the shuttle companies want for a full shuttle service. | Utah Rivers | Utah and vicinity

Whitewater Forum : Sky Gauge |
Author: LisaF Subject: Sky Gauge Posted: 06 Nov 2015 at 5:00pm If the gauge is off, it's most likely off by a percentage (which would explain Sam's comment). So, if Harms says it felt 1000 off at 4800, that would translate to about 20%. So, a reading of 2000 might feel more like 2400; 1000 more like 1200 (I think I noticed that myself last summer). Also, keep in mind that the gauge is at Goldbar, which is a bit downstream of the main run. If you figure water moves at more-or-less 4-6 MPH, and the gauge is 6 miles below where you're paddling (just a guess, I don't know exactly how far down it is), then a rapidly rising or dropping river would, necessarily, not be reflected on that gauge reading (I'll let someone else do the math; it's not my strongest subject). |

Whitewater Forum : Tilton Wood |
Author: czyaaron Subject: Tilton Wood Posted: 08 Nov 2015 at 8:05pm There is new wood on the Tilton after Leap of Faith. It is located just after the blind bend before the pinch rapid. At 700 CFS, it was just under water, and we were able to paddle over it. The river left side was submerged a bit deeper than the right side. It is not a very large log, probably about 12 inches in diameter. With any luck, it will dislodge when the river rises. Have fun out there. |
