Well it looks like Paradise North West will be in full effect if the forecasts are to be believed. Snow upon the Crest, and Flooding throughout the lowlands!! Who could ask for more? If the Skykomish gets sufficiently close to or above 40,000 cfs, I plan to put in at Big Eddy and potentially paddle to Everett?s saltwater. I don?t expect anyone to take interest in this marathon flatwater trip, but for anyone who happens to think that would be a cool trip, this weekend may be an opportunity for it.***I should emphasise that I am taking my 17? sea kayak for this trip, as its the best tool I got for the job******What this means is you need at least a comparable boat to join me. Something narrow and 15? or longer like a sea kayak or touring boat***I am going for long distance with hopefully as much cfs as possible to facillitate a swift delivery. Paddling pretty much non stop till the take out, except for a quick break or two. Not 100% sure about cranking out the whole 40mi in a day, much depends on flow. but wherever the chosen take out ends up being will require an early shuttle meet and subsequent early launch. Anyone is welcome to join me, provided you bring a boat at least 15? long and you know how to crank out strokes non stop pretty much the entire way. Not race speed, but paddling to get somewhere. Maybe a notch or two below race pace to capitalize on the floodwater flow. Planning for This Saturday or Sunday. VERY Flow Dependent. I know its last minute but figured I would put the invite out there. It would make for a nice solo trip, actually, too. Probably plan for an overnighter at least as a contingency. Anywho, if serious about joining this trip you'll want to contact me for details no later than friday afternoon. You can PM me, call or text.~jP~

I got Mike's Tuna off him. I love it, its a great boat. I'm 6'2" about 170.

A few opinions vs. Mike's review (which overall I agree with)
- You don't need to paddle the boat fast as much as smooth, the boat gets up on a plane pretty quickly, meaning it drops off a plane quick as well.
-It will punish bad form harder than most kayaks, wether that be stroke, posture, or whatever. But if paddled well, the boat is wonderful.
-Loading the boat is fine, as long as you load a little weight in the bow/move your seat forward a bit. Did 3 days in it and it was great.
-The high volume bow will not punch stuff, but because of the bow, you start going over stuff a lot easier. I have breezed over a few holes and have been confused how I flew over it so easily. But, I have also been complacent, expecting the boat to breeze over something, and got my ass kicked.
-There defiantly is a learning curve, but every boat has a learning curve. This boat's curve is just a bit steeper.

I do suggest you paddle one first, I paddled the blisstick version before buying Mike's. You're welcome to take mine out when I'm back west here in a few weeks.

Id love to buy that Waka off you endo, after you're done with it.
Ive paddled a bliss stick runs as my main boat since I started a little over a year ago and love it!
Up to class 5 and really I agree it rewards good form. Ive paddled a jackson villan, riot magnum, wavesport habitat 74, pyranha h3, stomper 90, pyranha nano, second gen burn, and a few boats im sure to have forgot...

The tuna is my favorite.
I feel like it drives itself, you steer and it's going.
Everything else is has been said.

I bought a demo boat from these folks. http://www.westerncanoekayak.com/

They gave me a reciept that needed to be stamped at the border. It took 3 minutes with most of the time spent waiting for the border guy to find the stamp. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

If you're buying a used boat from a private party in Canada, you still might owe taxes when you cross back to the US.  Here are the rules:

Limits for U.S. Residents

If you're a U.S. resident visiting Canada for less than 48 hours, you can bring back $200 worth of goods duty-free. For stays longer than 48 hours, the duty-free limit rises to $800. This $800 limit can only be used once every 30 days. If you return for another shopping trip in less than 30 days and have already purchased $800 worth of goods, your limit drops down to $200. People who live in the same house can combine their duty-free limits, but they must travel together.

However, the market for used WW boats is absolute crap these days, and with the Canadian dollar worth 75 cents US, you can get some really great deals on a used boat up north.

So... if you buy a used boat from a private party on a day trip to Canada, you're probably safe reporting a sale price a little higher than the limit, maybe $250 US or so.  If you spent more on the boat, you've got a few options:  1)  tell the truth and pay the tax.  2)  report a sale price of $250 or so, or 3) stay up north for 48 hours and the report the true sales price at the border (up to $800.)

The thing about Option 2 is that there are so many cheap-as-dirt plastic rec boats around these days, unless the border agent is an experienced kayaker, he/she is not going to be able to tell the difference between a quality WW boat and a POS K-Mart Special.  So it's entirely plausible if you choose to report a sales price around $250 or so.  Especially if the boat has the usual scratches.

Anyhow, you have lots of options!  Choose the one that works for you.
