Whitewater Forum : Lost paddle on Big Q |
Author: McCain Subject: Lost paddle on Big Q Posted: 19 Nov 2015 at 4:05pm Hey Jed, I saw your recent post about the lower section on americanwhitewater. You mentioned that it would be worthwhile hiking out at the put in for the lower big Q if you did the upper. Jeff and I are thinking about going back in there this weekend if the levels are good and I was wondering if you know an easy way to spot where to hike out is if you just want to do the upper and how hoard the hike out would be with a raft as that portage was kind of a bitch (we portaged on the left at river level) and the lower section was pretty manky in a raft. Thanks a ton for any info!!! |

Whitewater Forum : Paddler's Guide to the Olympic? |
Author: AtomicMan Subject: Paddler's Guide to the Olympic? Posted: 19 Nov 2015 at 6:19pm Sounds like I'm going to have to start looking through old used book stores. Thanks all. Anyone getting out on the Peninsula this weekend? I'm comfortable reading and running up to IV+, will run/portage V if the crew is willing to scout. Better way to learn a river is to get on it rather than reading about it anyways! Edited by AtomicMan - Today at 6:19pm |

Whitewater Forum : Sunday Olympic/St Helens area class IV+ |
Author: AtomicMan Subject: Sunday Olympic/St Helens area class IV+ Posted: 19 Nov 2015 at 6:40pm Hey all, I'm new to the Port Orchard area, out from Colorado and I'm psyched to get out on some local water now that rivers are flowing! Anyone willing to let me and my brother (both solid class IV+ boaters dabbling in the harder stuff) join in on the fun? We can go alone in true exploratory style, and did it for the Sultan and the MM Snoqualmie recently but it's always good to have more along for the ride. Advice on rivers near me that are must-runs? Looking at Jefferson/Hamma Hamma, Lower Big Q, Elwha (is it good to go this high?), EF Quinault (probably too high) or anything south or east of us as far as a few hours drive away! I'm usually happy to make long drives, spend nights camped in cars, leave work early, etc. to get the goods but Saturday I have bday plans. Thanks in advance, and see you on the river! Let's go boating! |
